The first International Conference on the Occurrence, Properties, and Utilization of Natural Zeolites was Zeolite ’76, held in Tucson, Arizona. It was during this conference that the International Committee on Natural Zeolites (ICNZ) was created “to promote and encourage the growing interest in natural zeolite materials throughout the scientific and technical community.” ICNZ was renamed INZA in 2004. The ’97, ’02, and ’06 conferences averaged 160 attendees representing more than 30 countries from all continents.
